DCAO Budaka appeals to MKN Pages contractor to do quality work at the construction sites.
Mrs. Jane Akiror the Deputy CAO Budaka has demanded for quality work and value for money from MKN pages company Ltd contractor, constructing Nansanga and Mugiti Seed Secondary Schools.This follows a number of incidences where contractors tend to do shoddy works at the construction sites.While giving her remarks today during the two site meetings, Deputy CAO tasked the contractor to ensure that he does extra ordinary work that meets a taste of time.“Work that government gives should be different from the ordinary buildings in our homes,” DCAO emphasized.She called for close supervision of works by all stakeholders for best results.Mr. Mugweri Charles, the project Manager also stressed the issue of quality and timely delivery of the two projects within the contract period of 02 years.He also appreciated the contractor for mobilizing workers at Nansanga Seed School site since it was worrying many.He assured members about the monthly site meetings that will be conducted consistently for the successful implementation of the project.He informed members that Nansanga Seed school project was costing a total sum of UGX3.2B and Mugiti Seed School UGX 2.9B.He further explained that the construction works at Nansanga Seed school were at inception stage with the site leveled, contractor beginning hoarding of the site, setting of ICT laboratory and excavation,science laboratory set out pending excavation,admin block partially set out,one classroom at setting stage and the other two not yet among other site works.He also asked the contractor to hoard the site inorder to safe guard his workers from the community.He also informed members that the contractor had mobilized workers, ICT Laboratory/library block was at set out level,had mobilised the workers,site leveling works ongoing, plint walling ongoing for the 02 classroom lock and administration, excavation of the multi-purpose hall was done and casting among other works for Mugiti Seed secondary school.He advised the contractor to have proper access to the site for timely arrived of materials at the site.The Project Manager also urged him to dispose off all the materials removed from the site and not use them for backfilling.He noted slow progress of works and hoped for the best since the works had just commenced.The Subcounty Chairpersons for Mugiti and Nansanga Seed Secondary schools appreciated the contractor for the goodwork so far done and advised him to grant opportunity to the local people from within the community to execute some works at the different sites and not out siders alone.He thanked the contractor for observing the social safe guard aspect at the Mugiti seed site and requested for more signange of warnings at the site for the safety of workers and the community.The Contractor M/S MKN pages company Ltd informed members that the contractor for the two sites commenced on 20th May 2023 and hopes to accomplish all the works within a year.The District Education Officer,Mr.Higenyi Paul tasked the District Councilors of Mugiti to sensitise the communities inorder to avoid wrangles that may affect the progress of the site works.Mr.Magunda George the RDC Budaka appreciated the president of Uganda for supporting Mugiti and Nansanga with seed secondary schools.Secretary Health and Education called upon the Clerk of Works to always be on ground to supervise the site works to ensure quality.
